Resumen

En el marco de una industria farmacéutica en expansión en todo el mundo y la inclinación drástica de las personas, específicamente de los jóvenes, hacia un estilo de vida saludable, ha habido un repentino aumento en el uso de medicamentos que alteran el peso.Se han realizado estudios previos que se concentran en la tasa de obesidad y la nivel de consciencia respecto a las enfermedades asociadas entre la población rural de Bangladesh. También se han elaborado informes en todo el mundo acerca de los efectos adversos y los riesgos duraderos para la salud debido al uso deascontrolado de medicamentos para corregir el peso . Este estudio se centró en los jóvenes urbanos de Bangladesh con el fin de generar información sobre su conocimiento actual sobre los efectos adversos del mal uso o la sobredosificación de estos medicamentos. Tenemos como resultado que el 13% de la muestra total tiene un conocimiento vago y solo el 2% de los encuestados están claramente informados sobre los efectos secundarios. Las revelaciones de la encuesta llevada a cabo requieren de mayor investigación y un esfuerzo definitivo para difundir la necesidad de buscar una opinión profesional adecuada antes de exponerse a cualquier substancia que incida en la alteración del peso. Palabras clave: juventud urbana, alteración del peso, obesidad, conciencia, efectos adversos, efectos secundarios, uso excesivo Abstract: With the growing drug industry all over the globe and the drastic inclination of people specifically the youth towards healthier lifestyle, there has been a sudden upsurge of the usage of weight altering drugs. Previous studies have been conducted concentrating on the obesity rate and consciousness about associated diseases among the rural people of Bangladesh. There had also been reports on the adverse effects and lasting hazards on health due to the uncontrolled use of medication for correcting weight worldwide. This study focused on the majority of the urban youth of Bangladesh with a view to gather information regarding their current knowledge about the adverse effects of the misuse or over dosage of these medications. Resulting in 13% of the total sample being aware vaguely and only 2% of the respondents to be clearly informed about the side effects; the revelations of the conducted survey demands for further investigation and definitive effort to spread awareness to seek proper professional opinion before being exposed to any drugs responsible for weight alteration.
