La educación médica frente a la exposición al SARS COV-2: logros de competencia de un médico residente en el campo de la uroginecología / Medical education versus exposure to SARS COV-2: how is the achievement of doctor resident competence in the field of urogynecology?

Resumen


La propagación del CoV-2 del SARS afecta a la educación médica. Los pacientes con casos uroginecológicos son en su mayoría pacientes de edad avanzada que están en riesgo de exposición al virus. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo revisar la educación de los residentes en el campo de la uroginecología durante la pandemia y cómo los residentes pueden lograr una competencia adecuada. Este estudio examina los puntos de vista de varios artículos de investigación anteriores y luego los recopila en una revisión narrativa. Las nuevas recomendaciones, como los servicios en los centros de salud, así como las visitas programadas o los servicios virtuales, repercuten en la reducción del número de casos, el contacto limitado con los pacientes, la exposición al virus desde los lugares de práctica, el aprendizaje en línea y la participación de los médicos residentes en el manejo de casos de CoV-2 para otras unidades. Los médicos residentes necesitan alcanzar la competencia para convertirse en profesionales en sus campos. Lo que hay que tener en cuenta es que la práctica directa con los pacientes, la realización de exámenes, la elaboración de diagnósticos y la aplicación de terapias con casos reales no pueden sustituirse por el aprendizaje en línea. La formación médica de los residentes debe garantizar la seguridad en la obtención de la educación y la práctica en el hospital para cumplir con la tarea de atender a los pacientes, el acceso a la salud mental en una pandemia y la formación basada en la simulación. Todas estas intervenciones están diseñadas para garantizar que la competencia de los graduados conseguida antes o durante el COVID-19 sea la misma: médicos profesionales y competentes en sus campos. Abstract
The spread of SARS CoV-2 impacts medical education. Patients with urogynecological cases are mostly elderly patients who are at risk of exposure to the virus. This paper aims to review resident education in the urogynecology field during the pandemic and how residents can achieve appropriate competence. This study examines the views of several previous research articles and then compiled them in a narrative review. New recommendations such as services at health facilities, as well as scheduled visits or virtual services, have an impact on reducing the number of cases, limited contact with patients, virus exposure from practice locations, online learning, and the involvement of resident doctors in handling SARS CoV-2 case for other units. Resident doctors need to achieve competence to become professionals in their fields. What needs to be realized is that direct practice with patients, conducting examinations, making diagnoses, and providing therapy with real cases cannot be replaced with online learning. Medical education for residents must ensure safety in obtaining education and practice in the hospital to fulfill the task of caring for patients, access to mental health in a pandemic, and simulation-based training. All of these interventions are designed to ensure that the competence of graduates achieved before or during COVID-19 is the same: doctors who are professional and competent intheir fields.
